- Status: All local Freecycle groups are currently open. You may find your local group by searching in the list of local Freecycle groups.
- In case of a local disaster some groups may have opened their groups up for general emergency info posts as well. Just ask your local group volunteer moderator. The address for this individual is located on the local Yahoo! group main group page for each group, at the bottom and looks something like this xxxxfreecycle-owner@yahoogroups.com.
- If you are having problems with a local group which may be headless due to emergency circumstances, please notify ert@freecycle.org. The Freecycle Network has an Emergency Response Temps team of volunteers ready to help out.

- FEMA for Kids: Resources for kids to learn about disaster preparedness. Includes information for teachers and students.

- Cyfer Net: Includes a number of links and PDF files for being prepared.
