FILES - Pending Membership

FILES - Pending Letter for New Members

Some groups have open membership which does not require files to be sent to members awaiting approval. Other groups have membership requiring moderator approval. It's best to set up a file that automatically sends a message to your members to let them know that you have received their application and will approve or deny membership shortly.

Here are a few examples you can use for your files regarding Pending Membership. Simply copy and paste... and feel free to edit as necessary!

Example #1 - Zip Code Based Membership

Hello,

Thank you for your interest in The Freecycle Network(TM). In order to reduce the incidents of spam on the list, the XXX Freecycle(TM) Group has had to institute a policy of moderating memberships.

We apologize for the inconvenience, but it will provide a much more pleasant experience for you once you are a member.

Simply send an email with your zip code to XXX-owner@yahoogroups.com within 72 hours and you should be approved.

Please read the list rules, as they provide much information to make your Freecycle adventure easier and more effective, and remember to Have Fun and Tell THREE (...or more) people about Freecycle!

Example #2 - Pending Verification by Moderator - G-Rated Profile Compliant

Hello,

Thank you for your interest in joining the XXX Freecycle(TM) group. Please know that this particular Freecycle group has rules stating that all profiles must be G-rated and for all ages.

Once a moderator ensures that your profile contains no porn or curse words, your membership will be approved.

Thank you. We look forward to having you as a part of our wonderful group.

Example #3 - Pending Verification by Moderator

Thank you for your interest in The Freecycle Network(TM) and in joining the Freecycle(TM) group for XXX!

Your membership is pending approval from one of our moderators. Please note that volunteers manage Freecycle groups. Your patience and good manners are greatly appreciated. Approval won't take long at all though, we promise.

This group requires membership approval to reduce the likelihood of SPAM and other abuse.

Thank you and we look forward to having you as a part of our Freecycle Family!

Example #4 - Pending Verification by Moderator - Zip Code and G-rated Profile Compliant

This group was designed to cover the YOURTOWN community. There is quite a distance between XXX County and the City of XXX! If you are not in XXX City/County you must be willing and able to bring your offers to the area and pick up in the area. Please include this information in your posts. If you are not in XXX City/County you may also choose to go to www.freecycle.org to locate a group closer to you.

In order to expedite your request for membership, reply with your zip code, town/city. We will get you approved as soon as possible.

There are a few requirements that Freecycle(TM) requires of us; one is that everything must be legal and appropriate for all ages. Per local policy, please ensure your Yahoo ID and email address has no profanity and comply with our G-rated requirement.
