How can I change our group description

Yes, you can change your group description / wording on http://www.freecycle.org/

Log into http://my.freecycle.org/ Select "My groups" to display a listing of your groups you are a moderator / member of.

If you are a moderator, you can see a "manage this group" link, to the right of the group name. Press the "edit group description" button (Near the bottom of options)

Using the edit screen:

On the left of the screen, you will see a big entry box, where the group description HTML/text goes in.

On the right, is a list of codes, & the meaning for the codes - Which can be inserted into your HTML code in the left box.

When you use the special codes in your description - The codes will be replaced with computer-generated / updated information specific for your group.

Example: If you want the current membership count to be shown, you add %%num_members in the HTML/Description and the latest figures will be updated to the screen.

NOTE: When you are updating the description, you can easily press the "preview" button to see what the changes look like - This shows your latest changes.

However, after you press "save" - there is a time-lag before the changes appear on the live site. This is because the group descriptions are cached, to reduce the load on the servers.
