How can I opt-out of My.Freecycle ?
(This prevents members from using My Freecycle with a particular group)
Send an email to your GOA, with a subject line of "My Freecycle opt-out" and include your Yahoo Group name, the link to your group and email address in the body.
If you would still like to remain on the the MF group as a moderator so that you can view any changes to the site, please let them know that too and the User Name that you have joined the group with. By staying on the group you can invite your other mods and still have access to the group, but new members cannot join and will be directed to your Yahoo Group when they search freecycle.org for your area group.
You'll be told when the opt-out is going to go live. Although opting-out is simply a matter of changing a flag, existing members using My Freecycle will need to have their membership to this group removed, and so there is likely to be some confusion when they find they can no longer use My Freecycle for this group.
By scheduling a time for the opt-out, everyone can prepare themselves for any potential member queries.
