When I opt out, will the members of My Freecycle be removed and do I need to worry about who may be remaining...?
Absolutely correct. When you opted out, what Richard does is remove all existing members from your group, but you and then disables new membership as an option. So basically it should be you and your co-mods as mod/members and that's it. No new members can join unless you invite them personally, like new co-mods for example.
