Freecycle.org Website Changes FAQ

reset

If I have opted the local group out, why can I still invite members and post items via Freecycle.org?

When a group opts out it simply means that the group will no longer accept members on MF (My Freecycle).

However the group will still be listed on MF so that when a member searches for a group in their area, the group is listed as one that they can join. This also allows the local moderators of the group to make changes to the zip/postal codes of the areas that they cover as well as the Homepage that the members will see when they join.

New members cannot join the group, but the moderators can invite them if they wish to and this includes inviting other moderators of the group to help with the changes listed above.
