Example #1 - Using Received vs. Taken in Subject lines

There seems to be a lot of confusion on how to use RECEIVED in the subject line vs. TAKEN. Just as TAKEN is used in conjunction with OFFER, RECEIVED is only used used in conjuction with WANTED. RECEIVED tells the rest of the community that you have been given a gift that you asked for from the community after placing a WANTED post. Like the OFFER/TAKEN, it closes out that particular transaction. At a later date, the Moderators match up Offers/Takens and Wanted/Received posts, keeping the message boards clean and clear of extraneous traffic.

Although it's nice to say that you have RECEIVED something lovely from someone else and you'd like to thank them for it, it does not follow XXX Freecycle(TM) guidelines on posting. In place of a posted thanks, we encourage you to follow up with a private email to let the person know that you appreciate what you have received from them. It's not public acknowledgement, but a simple thank you speaks volumes in maintaining community spirit!

We thank you for your contributions to XXX Freecycle. If you have any question regarding this issue or others, please drop us a line. Thank you!
