ADMIN Notices - Phone Numbers and Addresses

Freecycle(TM) discourages phone numbers and addresses in message posts. It is simply a matter of safety. When you post a phone number and/or address to the group, everyone now has access to your more personal information. It is recommended that you reserve that information for the recipient of your offer or wanted post.

Here are a few examples you can use for your files regarding Safety Issues revolving around addresses and phone numbers posted to the community. Simply copy and paste... and feel free to edit as necessary!

Example #1 - Address and Phone Number Safety

This is just a reminder to all Freecycle(TM) members that phone numbers and addresses are not permitted in any offers or wanteds you post. We suggest that you screen all emails you receive, make a determination on who is suitable for your items, and only then, give out your phone number and/or address accordingly.

We are concerned for the safety of our members. Though it can be more convenient to list your personal information for everyone to see, it is not in the best interest of our community members as a whole. We feel that taking the risk and passing out that information to strangers is not worth the risk.
