Rayleigh
Welcome to Rayleigh Freecycle
Dear Freecycle Member,
Hello and welcome to Rayleigh Freecycle, it's great to have you on board.
As you might have worked out the Rayleigh group is a relatively new group, it first went live on the 19th March 2009. The moderators are in the process of getting everything ship shape and running smoothly, we want to get the site doing want its designed to do and get all you lovely people giving and receiving items, keeping stuff out of landfill.
Now that's what I call a great community to be involved with.
It's been good to see that members have been joining and posting Offers and Wants and getting the site working from day one, all this on very minimal publicity. Hopefully as the Rayleigh Freecycle's profile begins to rise and the membership grows, the site will become more and more active and doing the job it was designed for.
Now this is where you may be able to help. As inaugural members it would be great if you could give some thought about how we can raise our profile.
The moderators are putting together material and are considering the following:
* Writing copy and sending it to local papers, with the credit crunch it's a great time to be telling the local community what we are all about. If there are any writers out there, their help would be greatly appreciated.
* Getting posters and leaflets on notice boards. These could be in shops, schools, church halls, workplaces, the list is endless.
* Contact local Council Environmental Departments and see if they could offer their support and give us some publicity.
* Getting existing members (that's you) to tell, email, give flyers to; their friends, families and work colleagues.
If you have any other ideas, want to lend a hand or simply would like some flyers to pin on notice boards or hand to friends please email us at "freecycle@hbc.co.uk" and let us know how you can help.
Regards,
Your Rayleigh Freecycle Moderators
