A Gentle Reminder and a Notice

Dear Wonderful Freecycle Members,

As a Moderator I love this site and I am grateful to be here.

It's so wonderful to see people helping other people in such tough times. I know the economy is getting bad, but PLEASE do not steal things that are not yours to take.

I recently posted a OFFER ad on the site in hopes of giving something away to someone who was needy. I had tried made sure that it went to a good person, but when they came they took what they wanted from me, and not just what came from my ad, they took other things as well, they also took from my neighbor, and the community I live in. I have been blamed for these things and now I am responsible for what has happened.

I understand the economy isn't doing so great but that doesn't give you the right to steal from others.

There isn't much that can be done about this, though. There are just a few people who aren't good people, and you can't think that everyone is like this. We have good experiences and we have bad experiences.

Please be fair to everyone.

Also, as a note for people who are OFFERING, I have had experiences where I went to go pick something up and the item wasn't even there. If someone is taking their time to go pick something up, please be kind enough to make sure no one else takes it before they get there.

Another time they gave me a bad address (it was an embarrassing experience), and the person never replied to my phone calls or emails. Pranks like these should not be posted on Freecycle.

The last time, after I drove a good distance, the person asked me to pay for it! Remember, freecycle is for FREE things!
