If you have a really unusual item or something that no agency will take, you might consider Freecycle.
The nationwide network, which has a local chapter, allows people to give away things like vacuums that need repair, baby-food jars, bubble wrap and other items that can’t find homes with local charities. There’s no tax writeoff, but you’ll get rid of your item and somebody else will be happy.
