HUNTINGTON — The Freecycle Network has come to the Tri-State.
The nonprofit grass-roots movement, which is in more than 3,900 cities around the world, is designed to transfer someone’s “trash” to another person who deems it a “treasure” — all in the name of keeping more piles of junk out of a landfill.
“We’ve had furniture, electronics, egg cartons, grocery sacks, bulk food jars, any items one person doesn’t want and will offer to members of the community who might be able to use them,” says Christine Newton, co-owner and moderator of Huntington, W.Va., Freecycle. “It can include everything from A to Z — including the kitchen sink.”
