Finding great values starts with knowing where to hunt.
Single parent Jane Walsh of Hyannis, mom to 2-year-old Naomi, is a fan of Freecycle and Craigslist, two online listings that act as a free classifieds system (with Freecycle items actually being free).
“I got a crib and changing table, both for $50, from Craigslist Rhode Island. I would have loved to have found it on the Cape, but the Cape Cod Craigslist site was not established at that time. It is now,” Jane says. “I have also gotten a rocker/glider and lots of toys and books from Craigslist. I also got a toddler bed from Freecycle for free, which fits the same mattress as the crib, so I can just swap it over.”
