Montreal Mirror : Restaurants : Pearl of Manila
On a recent expedition to Decarie to collect a bamboo tray I scored from Freecycle, I realized there remain traces of the quarter’s old charm, from the time before it was so brutally divided by the expressway. Among my discoveries was the Pearl of Manila on Decarie proper, between Côte-Ste-Catherine and Van Horne. A Filipino joint like this is a rare find in Montreal…..

BY CRYSTAL STEWART

Lakeshore Advance — So you have a few items you want to get rid of – but there’s not enough to hold a yard sale, you don’t know if anyone would actually pay for them or you just want to keep things out of landfill.

Try “freecycling” and wait for people to come to you. You might even find something you need in the process.

Operating under the international freecycle movement umbrella at www.freecycle.org, hundreds of Valley residents have found items they need and people have found homes for items no longer required at: www.groups.yahoo.com/group/cowichanvalleyfreecycle/.
Their motto is “Changing the world one gift at a time.'’ That’s not a bad idea!

Vulcan Advocate: Help protect our environment

media mention

… a bandwagon of my own choosing–Freecycle. It is a group of people who are dedicated to keeping useful items out of the landfills. People offer and take items that are no longer needed by one and make use of them instead of having them cluttering our landfills. Someone’s trash is someone else’s treasure, as they say.

… join Freecycle to get rid of the wares you no longer have use for instead of throwing them away.
