RedOrbit: Why I Gave Brush-Off to Orange Water Butt

But not a soul will touch the water butt.

I put it on Freecycle, thinking someone would snap it up for free.

But the gardener in question never arrived. And I fear it might have been a nightmare blind-date scenario, where they turned up, saw the goods… and scarpered.

I have now heaved the monstrosity round the back.

Asiaone: 30 ways to tighten the belt: CONSUMERS

If you’re looking to spruce up your home, head to www.freecycle.org to pass on unwanted furniture or electrical appliances, or get what you need. The site, which started in 2003 in Arizona in the United States, aims to ‘promote waste reduction and keep unnecessary waste out of landfills’. It has six million members, 5,604 of whom are Singaporeans.

TODAYonline : Users earn virtual credit to purchase items from fellow members

According to the moderator of SgFreecycle, 30-year-old Varun Arora, a recent poll was conducted on whether bartering should be allowed. Members did not subscribe to the idea.
