As I write this, I’m staring at my new vacuum. Do you know what’s great about this vacuum? It’s a token of a free world that’s all around you and you know nothing about. Imagine it: Hot tubs! Televisions! Bicycles and toys! They are all big ticket items that could leave your bank account a little light — unless you get it for free.

And you can — I tried it myself.

It’s all done on line at a Web site called Freecycle, a world where consumerism, environmentalism, and hand me downs all come together!

Shannon Davidson reports on a”Freecycle Angel” from Lebanon County, PA

The gift of giving is extending well beyond the holidays in one Lebanon County community.One woman helped brighten the spirits of dozens of kids for Christmas, and her generosity is spilling over into the New Year.

Etzweiler with some help from her little elves went onto the Freecycle website to find out whom in her area needed toys for Christmas. And thanks to the eight truck loads of new and gently used toys and stuffed animals donated by her mother, she was able to put a smile on many faces.

Breakfast TV tells the story of a man who is so passionate about saving the planet his cerebral palsy could not hinder his efforts. He runs part of a network called ‘freecycle’ which has been dubbed ‘Trade Me with a conscience.’
