Hello all!
Freecycle has had a recent couple of incidents where a scammer tried to contact members, pretending to be a Freecycle bot asking members to follow a link and provide extra information.
If you have received a message like this, please do NOT use the link. Instead, send a report to the moderators.
All identified scammers have been removed and blocked quickly. Additionally, we have now activated pre-approval for all new members, so that anyone wanting to join the group will need to be approved by a moderator before posting. While this might cause some inconvenience, for which we apologise, our aim is to keep all members safe and free from harassment by stopping this kind of attack going forward.
Freecycle will never ask you for personal information, passwords or credit card details by email. If you receive an email or message asking for this information, please report it quickly.
