End of 2025 message

Hello everyone,

We have received some notifications from members who have kindly offered items, who have had their time wasted due to interested members not properly reading item descriptions. On Freecycle, is is presumed that all items are to be collected by the member requesting the item, unless the description states otherwise.

Conversely, for larger items, descriptions should include the physical dimensions. As an alternative, it may be helpful to state whether the item/s will require a larger vehicle to move it/them.

In addition, members should not feel like they have to provide a reason to give items away, this is your own business, not all 53,000 members of the Leeds group! Please keep item descriptions concise and specific to the item itself, giving away additional personal information my expose you to people wanting to take advantage.

As an update, the issues of spam and scam messages seems to have died off (touch wood) after turning on moderator pre-approval for new members. I have not had any recent reports of McAfee pop-ups. If you do see any posts in the group you are concerned with, or have received any messages from someone claiming to be from Freecycle asking you to provide any information, please let the moderators know.
