NO Curb Alerts/First Come's

NO Curb alerts/First Come First serves...

Curb alerts are frowned on due to the potential for people to drive over and find nothing left and wasting gas (Freecycle is about reducing waste).

Another reason is that the post may be a prank/scam. Can you imagine having your stuff outside on moving day to only find it gone after lunch because someone made a "curb alert" post?

Also, the last thing anyone wants is an angry person knocking on their door, visitors at odd hours at night or stuff taken that wasn't being given away. ((There have been reports of things being taken around town that have been left kinda close to the road that were NOT being given away))

Please arrange pickup with one person only, rather than "it's outside, whoever gets here first gets it." You'll become unpopular pretty fast with your fellow Freecycle group members.

How should I arrange pick-up?

After you have picked someone, let them know. It's better not to send your address or meetup location until they respond again. If they take the trouble of sending you emails back and forth, they are very unlikely to stand you up. Once you've told someone they can have an item, please don't just change your mind and give it to someone else, unless arrangements fall through; if you do change your mind, please let them know. One option is to exchange phone numbers so that you can contact each other. However, this is not necessary. Reasons to exchange numbers: This helps if there are problems (e.g. you have to go out unexpectedly, or they're lost and can't find you). But it's better to only give your phone number to one person at a time, otherwise you'll potentially get swamped with phone calls. Simsbury group does not allow phone numbers, emails and addresses to be posted publicly on the group due to safety concerns for their members

List moderators reserve the right to immediately ban members for continued violation of these rules.
