Dear member,
Please find below a few important notes and reminders about using Freecycle(TM):
To help keep our community safe and running smoothly, please take a moment to read the following reminders:
1. Security & Communication:
As an added security measure, we now ask all members to request a mobile number from anyone arranging to collect an item. This allows you to share the collection address via text message, which provides a layer of identification and significantly reduces the risk of missed collections or "no-shows."
2. Free Means Free:
Please remember, no money should ever exchange hands on Freecycle. All items must be completely free of charge—this includes not asking for donations to charity, contributions for petrol, or delivery fees. If someone asks you for money in any form, it is a violation of Freecycle’s rules. Unfortunately, such requests often lead to scams where the item is never delivered. We strongly advise you not to proceed with the transaction and to avoid further contact, especially outside of the Freecycle platform.
3. No Conditions or Favouritism:
Items must be given freely and fairly, ideally on a first-come / first-served basis. Setting conditions or making offers dependent on circumstances or actions is not allowed.
4. Reporting Suspicious Activity:
You can help keep Freecycle safe by reporting any suspicious or inappropriate posts. To do this, Login to your Freecycle account, find the post in question, click on its title, and then select the "Report Post" button. Please include a short note explaining why you're reporting it. If the post no longer appears, it's likely been removed by a moderator already.
5. Confidentiality and Follow-Up:
Rest assured, any information you share with the moderation team is handled with the utmost confidentiality. We take every report seriously and will carry out a thorough review before taking appropriate action.
